Spring Break has begun...yeah!

So for spring break we headed to Oklahoma City to meet Roman's parents and his sister and her kids to spend a few days. We left Monday afternoon and came back home on Thursday afternoon. Cohen was so excited to go see everyone, especially Nana & his best friend, Brynn. He was also excited about getting to stay in a hotel and go swimming...the little things excite him! We stayed at a very nice hotel right down close to Bricktown and had a big suite all to ourselves.

Tuesday was St. Patrick's Day so we all got dressed in green and headed out to explore around Bricktown and the downtown area. We went to the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial Museum and spend most of our mid-morning there. It was very interesting and very sad! I still remember that day because it happen on my birthday and I was so sad to hear about all the innocent children that died that day at daycare. At the end, the kids got to play in a kid's area and dress up in all the emergency workers' uniforms. As we left the museum, we walked by the reflecting pool and the kids threw in some coins. The rest of the day we spend walking around Bricktown, which has lots of shops, bars, restaurants, etc. We also rode a trolley that took us around Bricktown and the downtown area...we used it as an excuse to rest our feet. That evening we finished our tour off at Toby Keith's restaurant, I Love This Bar. It was a fun restaurant with great food...ALOT of food! Of course, we had to finish the day off at the pool! What energy they had left they spent it at the pool!

On Wednesday we spend most of the day at the zoo...along with hundreds of other spring breakers! It was very busy and quite warm that day. We did have fun, but we were all worn out by the time we left! I think the favorite for the kids was the train ride, snakes and monkeys. After the zoo, we headed to a BBQ restaurant that Roman & I had seen on one of our favorite shows, "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives" and wanted to try it. It was delicious and hit the spot for all of us! When we got back to the hotel that late afternoon everyone knocked out for a short nap, we were exhausted.

Thursday we packed up and went to lunch together before we went our separate ways. We grabbed some burgers from a great little local joint and filled our tummies before we hit the road. We had a great time with everyone and enjoyed our time together! The only thing Cohen would have changed was he wanted to bring everyone home with him! He was a little sad that everyone had to go to their homes and not ours.

We love OKC! You should go to the Kirkpatrick Center next time. What BBQ joint did you hit?
